The cheap ones feel like a freezer bag, because that's basically what they are. This is a coated fabric — matte, soft, and quiet in your hands. It folds like a jacket instead of crackling like plastic.

That's the difference between this and a twelve-dollar multipack, and it's most of what you're paying for. Buy the cheap ones and you're solving this again next year.

Roll them and they don't. Creases set where fabric folds sharply — roll a shirt and there's no sharp fold for the pressure to find.

Which means the thing you probably already do still works. Roll, zip, press the button. It comes out how it went in.

Fold everything flat into a stack first and yes, you'll get lines — but you'd get those in a normal case anyway.

8 bags on a single charge — more than a normal trip out and back, and it tops up off the same cable as your phone.

If you ever do run it flat, the bags still seal by hand. Zip, press the air out, close the valve. You're never stuck in a hotel room with a case that won't shut.

Travel with it in your carry-on rather than checked, same as a power bank.

No — and nothing else will either. Air weighs nothing, so taking it out wins you room, not kilos.

But room is almost always the real fight. A parka, a fleece and a week of worn laundry weigh next to nothing and eat half your case. That's exactly what this clears, and it's why the lid shuts.

Most US/UK carriers publish no carry-on weight limit at all. There, the sizer is what stops you — and that's a room problem.

No. Unzip, take what you want, press the button, sealed again — about twenty seconds.

That's the part nothing else does. Every other bag is one-and-done: open it on day two and it stays open for the rest of the trip.

Most people run one bag they dip into daily and one they don't touch until they're home.

One if you're solving a single bulky thing — the ski jacket, the parka, bed sheets— or a long weekend.

Two is where most people land, and it's the one we'd point you to: one clean, one worn, and a spare either way.

Four for two people, or a trip long enough that you'll do washing halfway through.

The pump is in all three, so you're only choosing bags.

It was never how much you packed. It was the air.

Pick up the fullest thing in your case on the last day. A week of worn clothes, bunched. A towel. A fleece. Now squeeze it in your hands and watch how far down it goes.

Almost none of that is fabric. It's the air caught between the folds.

Which is why the case that shut easily on your kitchen table won't shut on the last morning. You didn't buy that much. Your clothes stopped lying flat — worn clothes never do — and now you're trying to fold air.

It's the same reason some things simply cannot be rolled. A bath towel. A fleece. A puffa coat. A week of laundry. Roll them as tightly as you like; there's nothing in there but air.

You're not bad at this. You've been wrestling the wrong thing.

      Before

      After

You've probably tried three of these. They all failed for the same reason.

      The cheap bags

A pack for twelve dollars. One tore on the first trip. You didn't go looking for a better version — you decided the whole idea didn't work, and you were right to, based on what you'd seen.

      Packing cubes

Better. Tidier. Genuinely worth owning. But a cube squeezes with a zip, and a zip can only do so much. The thing that was keeping your case open is still keeping your case open.

      Lying on the bag

The one that actually works. Bag flat on the hotel bed, you flat on the bag, one hand pinching the zip shut and no spare hand left to do it with. Someone described this method on a travel forum and then added, in brackets: "stop laughing; it works, at least in private."

      Nobody here bought this first.

The cheap bags. The cubes. The bed. Then this.

Every one of them needed something you couldn't take with you.

A vacuum cleaner sitting in a cupboard four thousand miles away. A firm flat surface. Both hands and your own body weight.

So the truth is that your packing has never really been a property of your luggage. It's been a property of your postcode. Competent at home, stuck in a hotel room, and nothing about you changed in between.

      That's the part we fixed.

So we made the vacuum small enough to pack.

The thing nobody had was a vacuum they can actually carry with them.

It's about the size of a moisturiser jar. It sits in your palm. It charges off the same cable as your phone, so there's nothing extra to remember and nothing extra to pack. It flattens a bag in under a minute and does about 20 bags on one charge.

And when it's done, it goes inside the case it just made room in.

      HOW IT WORKS

Use the flexible grid system to create any layout. Each block can be placed in any of the columns.

      STEP 1

Clothes in. Roll them first if they crease. The zip runs down the middle, so you're laying things in rather than stuffing them down a hole and trying to work them into the corners.

      STEP 2

Zip it shut. All the way along, until it stops.

      STEP 3

Pump on the valve, press once. Watch it go flat.

How are you going to vacuum seal them for your return?

Going out is the easy leg. You folded everything at your own kitchen table with an afternoon to do it and a spare hand for the zip.

Coming home is a different job entirely.

Worn clothes take up more room than folded ones — they never go back the way they came. You've bought things: the gifts, the bottle, the thing you didn't plan on. And the jacket you wore onto the plane on the way out has to go inside the bag on the way back.

So it's the last morning. Seven o'clock. Everything you own is on the bed. Checkout is at ten and you have a train at eleven.

You put the laundry in. You press the button. The case shuts.

Then you go and have breakfast, because the packing is done.

      • The set comes with a strong, efficient pump that quickly removes air and compresses everything down without any hassle.

This 2-pack is the perfect addition to my carry-on bag and has completely changed how much I can pack while traveling. Highly recommend!

        Susan

      • Honestly, these vacuum storage bags have helped me a lot. I use them for traveling and they save me a lot of space in my suitcase. They’re easy to use, and the material feels strong and good quality.

I also use them at home to store clothes, and everything stays much more organized.

        Robert

      • I fit significantly more into my suitcase and stayed organized. Highly recommend for anyone who travels and wants reliable, hassle-free compression.

Honestly, I should have bought the discounted 2 pack, because one just wasn’t enough!

        Karen

      • First of all, these vacuum bags shouldn’t be confused with the clear plastic vacuum storage bags, they are a totally different beast altogether! These are specifically designed for travelling and do the job very well.

I think this is a brilliant set of vacuum bags, they are very well made, easy to use and carry about and are perfect for travelling!

        Michael

      • I travel pretty frequently and always found myself either needing to bring multiple bags or one giant, overstuffed one.

        These completely removed that issue!!

The bags are sturdy and very well-made. Once they’re vacuumed everything stays compact and secure. I LOVE the zipper design, it’s easy to open and close even when the bag is fully compressed!

Definitely made packing easier and more efficient for travel!!

        Linda

      • I got this vacuum storage bag for a recent holiday, and it made a huge difference when packing.

It compressed my clothes really well, giving me much more room in my suitcase than I expected.

The bag sealed well and stayed compressed throughout the trip without leaking air.

        David

        Why nobody had built this

We read about a hundred and thirty forum posts about vacuum bags. Rick Steves threads going back to 2018. Tripadvisor. We were looking for what people hate about them.

We found the usual. They wrinkle things. They tear. They save space and not weight.

But one question kept coming up that nobody ever answered. A man with nineteen thousand posts to his name asked it in seven words:

"How are you going to vacuum seal them for your return?"

Twelve replies followed. Not one of them answered him.

We went back through years of threads. Nobody had ever answered it — because for every bag on the market, there is no answer.

        So we built the answer.

        Frequently Asked Questions

No. Unzip, take what you want, press the button to seal it again. Twenty seconds. That's the part that's different — with everything else, opening it once is the end of it.

No. Nothing will. Air weighs nothing, so taking it out wins you room, not kilos. If a 7 kg or 10 kg scale is what stops you, this isn't your product. The full answer is further up the page and it's worth reading before you buy.

Some will. Roll before you bag, and use it for the things that don't crease anyway — fleece, puffas, ski gear, towels, anything you've already worn. Shirts and linen: pack those the way you always have.

The Vacuum Bag is designed for longer-lasting air hold. It features a centralized valve and seam-sealed, glue-bond construction to reduce weak points and slow leaks, helping your clothes stay compressed throughout your trip.

One if you're solving a single bulky item or a long weekend. Two for a normal trip — one clean, one worn, and the second doubles as your spare. Four for two people, or a trip long enough that you'll do washing halfway through.

Yes, and it has to travel in your carry-on rather than a checked bag, because it has a rechargeable battery in it. Same rule as your power bank.

They're allowed in carry-on and checked bags. Occasionally a dense bag gets a hand inspection, because taking the air out makes it read solid on the scanner. Without a pump that's the start of a bad morning. With one, you re-seal at the gate and sit down.

Place your folded clothes inside the bag and close the zipper fully. Attach the Air Pump (or a standard vacuum) to the valve and remove the air until compressed. Once sealed, place the compressed vacuum travel bag in your suitcase, backpack, or carry-on.

Nothing left to decide but how many.

The pump is in all three packs. If a bag tears we replace it free, and you've got 100 days to change your mind

        The video matched my experience

The video is what convinced me. Seeing a thick jacket go down with the little pump beside it made more sense than all the usual claims about percentages and extra space.

        Easier than roll-up bags

No faff, really. I charged the pump before leaving, packed it inside the bag and used it in the hotel room before my flight home. Much less awkward than rolling and sitting on a bag.

        Useful on a cold-weather trip

I travel carry-on only and usually prefer to pack less rather than buy another gadget. But for a winter trip, the coat was the thing stopping the case from closing. This fixed that particular problem.

        The pump is very small

The pump is tiny enough that I actually took it with me rather than leaving it at home. That sounds obvious, but it is what makes the bags useful on the way back.

Better than the ones I had before

I had tried the cheap roll-up bags before and gave up after one split. The big difference here is not having to wrestle the air out by hand. The pump is the reason I would use these again.

        Just watch your bag weight

My only warning would be not to use it as an excuse to overpack. The bag will still weigh what it weighs. But it is very good for the lightweight, puffy things that take up ridiculous room.
